Dr Kimberley N Trapp speaks at the International Bar Association Annual Conference

Dr Trapp was a panel member on a discussion regarding the scope of self-defence in international law.
Dr Kimberley N Trapp, Senior Lecturer in Public International Law at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Laws, was a speaker on the ‘The right of individual or collective self-defence in relation to non-state actors’ panel at in Rome. Â
The panel was chaired by EstefanÃa Ponce Durán (Zuleta Abogados Asociados, Bogotá) and consisted of a moderated conversation between International Organisation delegates and academics on the scope of self-defence in international law. In her remarks, Dr Trapp addressed possible interpretations of the UN Charter and the interaction between state rights under the Charter and international human rights law. Â
The discussion which followed highlighted the potentially different starting points of States and scholars alike in their interpretation of the UN Charter.
