Meet Hu from China who attended the Pre-University Online Course in 2024.

Hu

Where were you during the Pre-University Online Course?

I was born in Beijing, the capital city of China.

In contrast to many of the students on the course, I studied in a regular high school rather than an international school, which meant that my classes were usually in Chinese and not English.

For me, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø courses give us more space and time for group discussions, so that we can express our own opinions and there are few such opportunities in our school.

Besides, I learned how to complete the essay and presentation systematically by myself and time management skills within two weeks.

I also learned how to take down notes and get to the point and let myself concentrate to the lecture.

Why did you choose the Pre-University Online Course?

The most important thing is that the course introduction is written to enhance the learning ability of English and it totally attracted me.

Furthermore, the reason why I want to study with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø is that it is a very strong university and is academically rigorous, and the courses offered can also help me to improve my English, so I decided to study in here.

Do you have any personal highlights from the course and why?

My favourite topic is global emissions because the essay I wrote at the end of the course is also about the climate change and global warming in the Arctic, so it helped me a lot with the essay.

The most impressive class for me is the money lecture, I took down many notes and drew a structure. It helps me to know the history of money and how it been developed.

Which skills have you developed during the course?

I have improved the communication and presentation skills, and other skills.

But for me what helps the most is the ways how to express my own feelings and how to discuss with my classmates more efficiently. And that helped me a lot with my study.

What do you want to do once you’ve finished high school?

After this Pre-University course it is definitely Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø!

I am considering about study Economics or Business and I would like to be an office clerk in the financial world, but I haven’t decided yet.

What advice would you give to future Pre-University Online Course students?

First, knowing how to use Microsoft Teams and how to download the documents is a very important. If you know how to use them correctly, it would be helpful.

Some useful tips for the online classroom is that remember to open your camera and close your microphone, unless you raise up your hand (on the top right corner of the screen) to start speaking.

To tell the truth before the class I was quite worried about if there have any problems or difficulties during the discussion. But in fact, the communication with my classmates was very smooth, and everyone would actively share their opinions, so it's totally unnecessary to worry.

I hope the future Pre-University Online Course students can enjoy and learn new knowledge through this class.
