The University of Warsaw, established in 1816, is Poland's largest and finest University. University of Warsaw is the most active Polish organisation in terms of EC contribution granted to the FP7 research projects according to the EC report "Innovation Union Competitiveness Report 2011". The University has received 7% of a total amount granted by European Commission to research projects in Poland. The Centre for Forensic Science of the Warsaw University (CNS) was established in 2007 is a cross-faculty Centre bringing together Law, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology (participation of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics is expected in the near future). Its scholars have participated in several high-profile security projects commissioned by, notably, the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Polish National Police and the Internal Security Agency of the Republic of Poland.
Role in the project
The University of Warsaw research team plays a key role within the project, having primary responsibility for the analysis of the risk and determination of contextual elements, which will frame the development of counter- and communication measures requirements, and for the development of these counter-measure requirements. The team's expertise in online crime will be put called significantly in the data collection phase of the project, which will seek to understand the role played by online settings at all stages of lone actor extremist events.
Investigators
听is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law in Warsaw, and an Honorary Senior Research Associate at 香港六合彩中特网. His research expertise (LLM (2000), PhD (2008, Magna cum Laude), includes multiple homicide, criminal analysis and offender profiling in the terrorism domain. His current research deals with the application of open source intelligence analysis, digital and Internet forensics to forecast and combat terrorist acts and radicalisation. He was employed for 3 years by the General Headquarters of the Polish National Police (Criminal Intelligence Bureau) and has 15 years of experience of consultancy and cooperation with Police and Intelligence services in Poland, UK, US and Canada. He is also a graduate of the London Metropolitan Police Specialist Operations Training of Hostage Negotiations. He has lectured and held visiting professorship positions in the UK, USA and Canada and participated in over 90 academic and Police conferences worldwide.
Dr. Agnieszka Gutkowska听is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology at the Faculty of Law, University of Warsaw. She has been doing research and teaching projects in criminology since 2003. In 2006, as a visiting scholar, she conducted comparative legal research in the School of Law at Indiana University of Bloomington (concerning sexual harassment in Universities in Poland and USA). Dr Gutkowska also studied at the Eastern Europe Studies of Warsaw University (specialisation: Russia - Asia 鈥� Caucasus). She has 11 years of experience in researching issues relating to refugees, migration, cultural determinants of migration and integration of migrants in host societies, as well as the problems of the conflict of cultures, cultural determinants of crime and coexistence of different cultural and normative systems, with particular emphasis on Sharia. In 2011 she conducted a research project funded by the Polish Ministry of Science "Islamic Law in Europe? Sharia and European normative system." Since 2001, in cooperation with several NGOs she has coordinated numerous projects related to migration issues.
Prof. Piotr Girdwoyn听graduated with an LL.M. from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, where in 1999 he obtained the Ph.D. degree in Legal Sciences. In 2007, Girdwoyn was appointed to the position of Director of Centre for Forensic Science at the University of Warsaw, where in collaboration with, among others, Warsaw University of Technology, National Academic Computer Network and Polish Security Printing Works he has been involved in "The Platform for Secure Implementation of Biometric Systems for Verification and Identification" project. The project has been conducted within the 7th competition for Development Projects in the field of Security and National Defence, of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Prof. Girdwoyn is an author of five academic books and over 100 articles, book chapters and conference papers in Polish and International publications. Since 2012, he holds a position of a Full Professor granted to him by the President of the Republic of Poland.
