Moorfields Eye Charity invests in ophthalmic research careers

Moorfields Eye Charity has issued a call for grant applications to support the next breakthroughs in ophthalmic research.

Moorfields Eye Charity supports researchers at different stages in their careers as they make new discoveries and improve understanding of eye diseases and outcomes for patients in the UK and around the world. This includes PhD studentships supporting high-quality research and career development awards for researchers who already have an academic career and are of the calibre to be future leaders of vision research and clinical practice.

Deadline for applications

Wednesday 20 November 2019

Applications are now being accepted for the following grant programmes:

  • – provide funding of up to £110,000 to support the training of a graduate student to conduct a high quality PhD research project towards the understanding, prevention and cure of vision disorders.
  • - provide short term support to science researchers, clinical and allied health professionals who are already on an academic career track and are of the calibre to be future leaders of ophthalmic research and clinical practice.
  • - to enable medical, nursing, optometry and allied health professionals the opportunity to undertake a high-quality research training fellowship towards a PhD focused on the advancement of education, clinical practice or ophthalmic research and which will be to the benefit of Moorfields Eye Hospital and our patients.

Applications are open until Wednesday 20 November and decisions will be announced in March 2020. .
