The Ophthalmology Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Accra has opened its modern specialist eye centre to the general public. A team of 18 medical personnel from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø and Moorfields Eye Hospital, led by Mr Ian Murdoch, traveled to Ghana to advise and train local staff and ensure that the facility opened on time.  

The $3 million project will continue for another five years as Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø and MEH staff continue to train local specialists. Mr Murdoch said "With the development of this new integrated treatment centre, West Africa will be a vanguard for sub-specialty training in ophthalmology, which will be very exciting".
