To mark the 75th anniversary of Pakistan鈥檚 independence, UPSIGN鈥檚 list of 75 notable British Pakistani academics, trainers and teachers celebrates the achievements and contributions of people of Pakistani origin.聽

Dr Mujtaba directs and leads on several education research evaluations in addition to being the Programme Leader of the Postgraduate Diploma in Social Science Research Methods. 聽

She has undertaken a wealth of research into the barriers and enablers of girls鈥� engagement in STEM. Recently she has explored the impact of how cross-curricular teaching can enhance students鈥� perceptions of science and put forward suggestions for educational policy and practice to enhance attainment and positive education experiences for disadvantaged groups.聽

Her research is being used to shape teacher training programmes at 香港六合彩中特网 in order to promote teaching approaches that intend to reduce the attainment gap across schools in England, as well as promoting positive attitudes towards science.聽

Dr Mujtaba also recently directed a randomised control trial research evaluation for the Education Endowment Fund. This work found that a science programme accelerates learning by two months for primary students attending schools with a high number of socioeconomically disadvantaged students.聽

UPSIGN was established in 2017 in UK universities by British Pakistani academics. Its mission includes raising awareness and finding solutions for some of the biggest social and economic challenges facing people living in Pakistan, as well as providing support for British citizens of Pakistani heritage in the UK relating to wider institutional change.聽

Dr Mujtaba said: 鈥淚t is a privilege to be given this award by UPSIGN given the tremendous work they do to promote social justice issues internationally. I plan to work more closely with UPSIGN to support their work and help ensure my own research continues to have a wide-reaching impact nationally and internationally.鈥�
