18 January 2021
We explore the central role that subject knowledge plays in education and hear why we need new thinking about how we understand knowledge and knowledge-building.
Dr Arthur Chapman speaks to Dr Humera Iqbal about the 鈥榢nowledge turn鈥 in curriculum studies, a key theme addressed in the 鈥淜nowledge and the Curriculum鈥 series of books, emerging from work by the IOE鈥檚 Subject Specialism Research Group and fellow theorists at Sweden鈥檚 Karlstad University and the University of Helsinki in Finland.
Adopting the context of teaching and learning history, Dr Chapman also explains the complexities facing educators when looking to develop student knowledge and understanding.
