Dr Ana Pellicer-Sanchez

Dr Ana Pellicer-Sanchez鈥檚 work will be conducted with Dr Raquel Serrano (University of Barcelona). They will analyse results of a study investigating how reading promotes learning English as a second language. They will use eye-tracking to examine how different conditions affect vocabulary learning from reading.

They will also organise a seminar addressed to MA and PhD students at the IOE. The seminar will provide students with an introduction to the use of eye-tracking in English language learning research and will report results of the analysis completed during the research visit.

David Mallows

David Mallows聽will work on a joint project with the State University of Bahia, Brazil (UNEB). The project聽will examine the role of the university in developing a community of practice among those working with adult learners.

UNEB runs the only Master鈥檚 degree in adult education in Brazil. They will also look at the impact their聽participation has had on their professional practice, and analyse the outputs of the students on UNEB Adult Education Masters.

The studies鈥 results will inform a larger funding bid to map the current state of the art of adult education in Bahia, and to explore mechanisms to support those working in the field.

Dr Andrea Revesz
