CCS in South America

The CCS Director, Dr Aris Komporozos-Athanasiou, will be visiting Santiago, Chile (Universidad Diego Portales, and Universidad Central) and Buenos Aires, Argentina (Universidad Nacional de San Martín, and NYU Buenos Aires) to build collaboration with local research groups and strengthen CCS links with South American institutions.

New CCS visiting fellows in 2024/25

CCS is delighted to announce that their first cohort of Visiting Research Fellows will arrive at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø in the Autumn Term 2024. Over the next few months, we will welcome Dr Ana Valdivia (Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford), Dr Amin Samman (City, University of London) and Dr Caroline Shenaz Hossein (University of Toronto). They will be working with colleagues at the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute for Global Prosperity, SELCS and the Development Planning Unit, and developing relationships between their institutions and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø.

The CCS is pleased to confirm it has received a donation from The New Institute, to support its work and research as the centre grows. The New Institute’s mission is to nourish transformation through interdisciplinary and trans-sectoral collaboration. The Institute is committed to incubating new ideas, expanding the influence of work already done, and making a tangible difference through its work. Their activities are clustered around three Research Areas: The Human Condition in the 21st Century, The Future of Democracy, and Socio-Economic Transformation.

Inaugural CCS ‘Annual Conversation’: Capitalism in the 21st Century

The CCS Annual Conversation (Inaugural event 2024/25) will take place in the evening of 4 th or 5th December (t.b.c). The event is titled Capitalism in the 21st Century and will include an eclectic set of world-renowned thinkers brought together for the first time – stay tuned for more updates! 

Team updates

During the 2024/25 academic year, CCS Leadership Team member Dr Amy Horton (Geography) will be Acting Centre co-Director, alongside Director Dr Aris Komporozos-Athanasiou. Aris will also take up a grant-funded Research Chair of the Futures of Capitalism program at The New Institute, leading a team of 6 academics from 4 countries, including CCS Leadership Team member Dr Kimberly Chong (Anthropology).
