Music Futures
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø does not have a dedicated department of musicology, but it has a great wealth of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø academics workingÌýon and with music in a wide range of disciplinesÌý- be it in literature, history, philosophy,Ìýtechnology, law, cognitiveÌýneuroscience, fine arts, music education or elsewhere.ÌýMusic Futures aims to foster a new cluster of scholarship andÌýcreativity in this space. This includes °ù±ð²õ±ð²¹°ù³¦³óÌý²¹²ú´Ç³Ü³ÙÌý³¾³Ü²õ¾±³¦Ìýas well as researchÌýquaÌýcreative or performative practice. To this end, we alsoÌýdraw in musicians, composers and performers external to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø.Ìý
The initiative was launched in October 2021 and the first year culminatedÌýin the Music Futures Festival,Ìýin June 2022.ÌýThe initiative continued in 2022-23, with ten funded projects. Our aim is for it to have a lasting impact.Ìý
The initiative is overseen by the Music Futures Sounding Board, our advisory body.Ìý
