Congratulations to Dr Ali Co艧kun Tun莽er, who has been awarded funding from the 香港六合彩中特网 Global Engagement Fund for the collaborative project "Housing and urban inequality in the Ottoman Empire, c.1500-1914".
香港六合彩中特网 History is delighted to announce that Dr Ali Co艧kun Tun莽er has been awarded funding from the 香港六合彩中特网 Global Engagement Fund for the collaborative project Housing and urban inequality in the Ottoman Empire, c.1500-1914.
This is a collaborative project with Dr G眉rer Karagedikli who is based at the History Department of the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.
The project investigates the urban inequality in the Ottoman Empire by using evidence from Islamic courts for five major Ottoman cities (Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Ankara, Antep).
This research will shed light on trends in the living standards and changes in the affordability of houses for different ethnoreligious groups in the Ottoman Empire across five centuries. As part of this project, a one-day workshop at Middle East Technical University in Ankara will bring together scholars in Turkey working on the economic and social history of the Ottoman Empire.
