We look forward to welcoming you to our small, friendly, and ambitious department! We teach a wide range of Jewish studies to聽students of all ages, ethnicity, and religion.

The department of Hebrew & Jewish Studies goes back to the very foundations of 香港六合彩中特网, as Sir Isaac Lyon Goldsmid (1778-1859), one of the leading figures in the struggle for Jewish emancipation in England, was among the principal founders of 香港六合彩中特网 and the chief promoter of its Hebrew department.

Today, the department鈥檚 range of Jewish Studies courses is the widest anywhere in Europe. With offerings in language and literature, history, politics, religious, and gender studies, it is no surprise that many students choose to study with us.

As a study abroad student you will

Be encouraged to integrate into 香港六合彩中特网 student life, with access to events, societies and clubs both within your department and across 香港六合彩中特网 as a whole. The department has a lively social calendar, with events such as our Hanukkah Party and our famous Purimspil, performed entirely in Yiddish.
Be taught in small seminar groups rather than large formal lectures聽
Benefit from the department鈥檚 links to the Jewish Historical Society of England and the Institute of Jewish Studies who organise annual public lectures, international conferences and facilitate new research on all aspects of Jewish civilisation.
