24 August 2023
For the first time, the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Research Department of Epidemiology & Public Health (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø EPH) has been presented with a Silver Award at the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø 11th Sustainability Awards Ceremony.
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø EPH has been striving to demonstrate positive environmental impact and support Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø’s Sustainability Strategy. Through the dedication and hard work of the Green Champions, the research department has been recognised for its commitment to creating and maintaining a sustainable workplace.Â
To achieve this, the department engaged colleagues with green issues through a series of actions, including:
- Purchasing copy paper which has 100% recycled content
- Promoting Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's Cycle and Walk resources to staff and students
- Reminding staff to unsubscribe from paper-based junk or spam mail, or mail that is no longer read
- Encouraging staff and students to take the stairs to reduce energy consumption in the building
- Implementing a collection point for used toner cartridges which are re-used or recycled by the supplier
Over 200 staff and students from all corners of the university, both online, and in person, attended the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø’s Sustainability Awards Ceremony. The event was a celebration of our community members who enhance the sustainability of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø.Â
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø EPH’s Green Champion is Floriana Bortolotti - please reach out if you're interested in Green Impact.
