The Conception X programme is transforming scientific PhD researchers into the founders of their own companies.

The聽specially developed聽venture programme was聽launched within 香港六合彩中特网's Faculty of Engineering in 2018 and is now an independent non-profit. It聽supports聽PhD students聽to聽launch deep tech startups,聽alongside their PhD studies,聽based on their research.听聽

Students聽join a cohort where they receive enterprise聽and entrepreneurship聽training聽as well as mentoring and guidance from subject matter experts. These include leaders from industry, exited entrepreneurs and alumni of the programme.听聽

鈥淚n our model, the university is the incubator,鈥澛燙onception X CEO Riam聽Kanso聽says.听鈥淭he聽programme聽enables PhD candidates to explore entrepreneurship as a career choice alongside their degree.听聽聽

鈥淥ur process and resources have been designed to fit聽the聽intensive research timelines of PhD students.听Open to PhDs from all universities,聽we鈥檝e made聽it our mission to help some of the brightest people in the world become venture scientists.鈥澛�

The programme has already supported more than 200 students from 160 PhD teams at over 30 universities. Between them,聽the聽cohorts have聽raised 拢13m in funding for their ventures.

鈥淚n a short time, Conception X has scaled up across the UK and across different sectors,鈥� says Jane Butler, 香港六合彩中特网 Engineering Vice-Dean (Enterprise), who was part of the 香港六合彩中特网 team who set up the聽programme. 鈥淚t is truly stunning to see young companies incorporate, raise significant funds, create jobs and opportunities to shape the future whilst on the聽programme.鈥澛犅犅犅�

Some of the聽many successful聽businesses to launch through聽Conception X聽include:聽

• Quantum machine learning company聽Rahko, who secured 拢1.3 million in funding to develop technologies that significantly speed up drug development;
• TurinTech, who raised 拢1 million for their business that helps industry harness Al in a faster, more environmentally friendly way;
• Enteromics, who鈥檝e been awarded 拢150k to develop their gut health 鈥榮mart pill鈥�.
