EEE student wins Doctoral School Research Poster Competition

A mammoth 175 students participated with EEE鈥檚 second year PhD student, Maria Carolina Novitasari, awarded first prize in her research category.

PhD student wins a competition

The annual Research Poster Competition is organised by 香港六合彩中特网鈥檚 Doctoral School to encourage 香港六合彩中特网 graduate research students to communicate their research to others and prepare them for presenting their work at conferences.

The competition is split into seven 鈥楾hemes鈥 and each student submits to one of these. Maria鈥檚 research poster was entered into 鈥楾heme 2: Advances in technology鈥, on the research topic 鈥淟everaging Machine Learning to Predict the Autoconversion Rates from Satellite Data鈥.

On being recognised for her research excellency, Maria said:

It is a great honour for me to win this competition in my theme. My research demonstrates how technological advancements, in particular machine learning, can aid in predicting one of the key processes of precipitation formation for liquid clouds, which is essential for understanding cloud response to anthropogenic aerosols and, ultimately, to climate change.

The competition allows students to enter their poster in (cross) disciplinary research categories. The aim is to encourage students to think more broadly about how research fits in the wider world or how our research might innovatively impact on other research areas.
