What are you #ProudToBe?

26 October 2021

In conversation with Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) researcher Sephora Madjiheurem, to discuss 2021's BHM theme #ProudToBe.

Sephora EEE researcher

As a Black woman in the tech sector听I always felt doubly underrepresented in a field that is,听historically, mostly white and male.

I started noticing that this lack of diversity translated directly into the kind of problems we were looking at and solutions we might come up with.

This helped me to always consider all angles when tackling research problems instead of always jumping to the obvious option.

My background and passion enable me to achieve this through听impactful research.

I am proud to bring unique perspectives to science and engineering, and perhaps to inspire younger aspiring researchers who identify with who I am.

I am proud to be a Black woman working at the forefront of AI research at 香港六合彩中特网.

I am proud to have participated in the Black Lives at 香港六合彩中特网 podcast series, and the 香港六合彩中特网 Engineering Race Equality event.

I am proud that in addition to providing an excellent research environment, 香港六合彩中特网 is encouraging me to be vocal about the issues my community faces within academia and providing听me a platform to share these.听

I am #ProudToBe. What are you #ProudToBe?

As well as being a valued member of the EEE community, Sephora hosts a podcast entitled '', available on all podcasting platforms. One specific podcast surrounding issues of race in individual and institutional form also features, entitled ''.听
