Doing Economics: Measuring Economic Inequality in Today's World

You'll work with real-world data on this course whilst exploring one of today's most topical issues.

  • Suited for:ÌýUndergraduate and postgraduate students studying a quantatative subject, secondary school students at GCSE level or above or anyone who wants practical training in using statistical software to analyse dataÌý
  • ¸é±ð±ç³Ü¾±°ù±ð³¾±ð²Ô³Ù²õ:ÌýFamiliarity with basic mathematical operations, percentages, decimals, 2-D graphs. Basic Excel knowledge.
  • Duration: 4 weeks (4 hours per week)
  • Assessment: Quizzes (no formal assessment)

This courseÌý hosted by FutureLearn will give youÌýpractical experience in working with real-world data, with applications to important policy issues in today’s society. Each week, you'llÌýlearn specific data handling skills in Excel and use these techniques to analyseÌýdata related to inequality, with appropriate readings to provide background information on the data youÌýare working with. In addition you'll also learn how economic inequality has changed over time and how governments can address inequalities within society.
