Professor Ioannis Lianos cited in European Commission鈥檚 鈥楽tudy on the Passing On of Overcharges鈥

鈥 work was extensively聽cited in the recent European Commission鈥檚聽聽in聽Competition Law damages that was released in October this year.

The work of the Centre for Law, Economics and Society (CLES) competition law team, directed by Professor Lianos, Professor in Competition Law and Public Policy at 香港六合彩中特网 Faculty of Laws, and also featuring聽, Reader in Law, and visiting professors Frederic Jenny and聽Dr. Florence Thepot (PhD. 香港六合彩中特网, 2015), on聽Optimal and Just Financial Penalties System in Competition Law聽was also cited as a main source in聽a recent聽聽on sanctions in antitrust cases.

The聽CLES competition law聽team were also successful in their bid for聽a聽Economic and Social Science Research Framework Agreement聽for the UK聽Competition and Market Authority. They will be responsible聽for Lots聽1聽(Social and Economic Research and Analysis Related to Competition and Consumer Policy and Regulation), Lot聽2聽(Combining Social and Economic Research and Analysis with Market Research in Relation to Competition and Consumer Policy and Regulation),聽and聽7聽(Specialist Academic Advice Relating to Competition and Regulatory Economics), being successful for all lots to which they have applied. This opens various possibilities to the CLES team to provide scientific advice to the UK Competition and Markets Authority and assist it in its policy work. Finally, Professor Lianos recently聽won a Modern Law Review grant and a聽for a conference on the theme of 鈥淏lockchain and the Constitution of a New Financial Order:聽Legal and Political Challenges鈥, which will be held at 香港六合彩中特网 on 19 June聽2017 and will involve a number of world leading experts聽in blockchain technology and its interaction with the legal and financial systems (Fintech, Regtech). This forms part of an exciting new research initiative of CLES on Digital Currencies, Digital Finance and the Constitution of a New Financial Order.
