The Paediatric Ocular Inflammation Group (POIG) was formed听in听order to support the development of the evidence base necessary to inform management strategies, service commissioning and service delivery for children with ocular inflammatory disorders including:听鲍惫别颈迟颈蝉,听Orbital inflammation,听Inflammatory ocular surface disorders,听Scleritis and听Optic nerve inflammation.听听

Why do we need POIG?听
The rarity of the individual disorders can be an obstacle to impactful biomedical research. This is particularly true for disorders which impact on children. To overcome this challenge, various clinicians and researchers across the paediatric ophthalmology, uveitis, external and orbital disease ophthalmic sub-specialties, along with rheumatologists and paediatricians, have听coming together to form POIG.

POIG has undertaken a national survey of the management of paediatric ocular inflammation, reporting evidence of multi-disciplinary care, the common use of systemic immunomodulation, and the need for support for the transfer of care from paediatric to adult services:听
We have also undertaken a national Delphi consenus exercise on the management of childhood anterior uveitis,听identifying听key areas of future research needed to ensure better outcomes for this group of blinding childhood ocular inflammatory disorders:听

POIG is supporting UNICORNS, a national study looking at outcomes for children with uveitis听听
