Professor Wilson collected the award聽at the International Zebrafish Society聽Conference in Kyoto, Japan. It聽honours the outstanding contribution in the field of genetics of the Nobel Prize winner Christiane N眉sslein-Volhard.

Professor Wilson said: "I am absolutely delighted and honoured to receive the Christiane N眉sslein-Volhard Award. The community of researchers working with zebrafish is really wonderful and I鈥檝e had a great time working with, and among, such smart, supportive and friendly researchers both locally and across the world.鈥�

Professor Wilson was among the earliest researchers to use zebrafish for studying the nervous system and his team have made many seminal insights into the development of the forebrain and eyes.
