Maxim, Samuel, Ana-Maria, Roumyana, Delphine and Gonzalo have been working with their supervisor, on this poster titled 鈥淏ioethanol production from longline seaweed in the United Kingdom.鈥澨�

Their research is looking at harnessing macroalgae Laminaria hyperborea to generate biofuel. The UK would need to produce some 600,000 tonnes of bioethanol in order to satisfy 5% of road transport fuel demand as part of commitments to increase the proportion of energy generated via renewables. The team worked on longline cultivation of macroalgae offshore as a crop that could be cultivated without the need for arable land or competition with food sources.

This is the second year in a row that students from 香港六合彩中特网 Biochemical Engineering have taken their research. In 2018听Aoife Bye, Enya Gomes Clynch, Sofia Spassova and Douglas Head presented thier research to Westminster.

The winning posters will be presented in Parliament on 19 February.
