The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Administrator to join the team.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER) is seeking a Senior Research Administrator to join our team which manages a growing research portfolio of £65 million. They will proactively take the lead on managing grants from the proposal stage and costings, to account set-up, providing financial budgeting information, promotion of outputs, and final report submission.Ìý

They will be capable of understanding and analysing research proposals and business plans, and have the confidence to offer constructive comments and feedback to senior researchers and academics.

The post holder will be in a unique position to see the full extent of BSEER’s research portfolio, so the successful candidate will be expected to have some understanding of the key funding bodies within the UK and abroad. They will also be familiar with the regulations for the REF exercise and Open Access.

BSEER is a fast growing, internationally renowned School for cross disciplinary research with economists, energy modellers, social scientists, building engineers, physicists and heritage specialists all working to mitigate climate change. The operational work of the BSEER administrative team is a both challenging and complex.

Continuous change is typical of the School environment and something that the administrative team thrive on and adapt to.

Key Requirements

Educated to undergraduate degree level, the successful candidate will have experience of providing and developing administrative support and processes. The post holder will have a track record in successfully at managing projects, compiling complex data, and producing concise financial and written reports. They should have knowledge of the pre-and-post award process from both financial and operational aspects.

They will have excellent organisational skills, time management and project management skills, including the ability to work effectively on numerous projects simultaneously. ÌýIn addition, they will have a record of successful line management and development of staff, or appropriate training with a view to stepping up to line management.

This is a busy role in a fast-paced environment, and the post holder is expected to be adaptable, proactive and quickly assimilate information. The role requires interaction with many people within and external to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø, thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and ability to remain tactful and assertive are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined.
