DPU Director accepts invitation to become a fellow at the Institution of Civil Engineers

Congratulations to DPU Director Prof. Julio D Dávila who has accepted an invitation by the London-based Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to become an ICE Fellow.
With a membership of 93,000 in tens of countries,ÌýICE isÌýthe oldest and one of the most respected professionalÌýengineering associations in the world. Founded in 1818, its first President was the ScottishÌýengineer Thomas Telford, aÌýpioneer of modern engineering andÌýdesigner ofÌýover 1,000 bridges.ÌýAccording to theÌýICE, aÌýFellowship "is a mark of professional excellence, and an endorsement of leadership, knowledge, skills and experience... Fellows are often known and respected in theÌýindustry for their expertise."

Julio looks forward to working with ICE colleagues with a view to exchanging ideas aboutÌýthe contributionÌýthat infrastructure can make to the challenges ofÌýrapid urbanisation, and social and spatialÌýfragmentation in Global South cities.Ìý
