Dr Marta Zboralska

Dr Marta Zboralska specialises in modern and contemporary art. Her area of expertise 鈥 and the main theme of her PhD thesis on the Warsaw studio of Henryk Sta偶ewski and Edward Krasi艅ski, completed at 香港六合彩中特网 in 2020 鈥 is the relationship between the avant-garde and the neo-avant-garde. The final chapter of her doctorate, titled "The Matter of Chatter" and dealing with Krasi艅ski's writing, won the Association for Women in Slavic Studies 2020 Graduate Essay Prize. She was an Arts and Humanities Research Council Fellow at the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, between October and December 2017, and Project Assistant on the Getty Foundation-funded initiative Confrontations: Sessions in East European Art History in 2019-20.听Her review of Karol Radziszewski鈥檚 exhibition The Power of Secrets was shortlisted for the 2020 Burlington Contemporary Art Writing Prize and later published in Third Text Online. Marta's forthcoming articles include 'Living Color: Henryk Sta偶ewski's Interior Models' (Art Journal, Fall 2021) and 'Henryk Sta偶ewski's Art in America' (Archives of American Art Journal, Spring 2023).

Research summary

Marta's research deals with intergenerationality in twentieth-century art, in Poland and beyond, as a means of questioning the paternal, genealogical character of 鈥渋nfluence鈥. She is currently developing a post-doctoral project exploring these questions in the context of gender.
