Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute of the Americas is seeking to fill a position in International PoliticsÌýorÌýInternational Relations of the Americas at either the Lecturer level (equivalent of a U.S. tenure-track Assistant Professor position) or the Associate Professor level, subject to skills and experience.

The role holder will carry out research, teaching, and administration within the Institute of the Americas. They will contribute to the Institute's teaching provision inÌýInternational Relations of the Americas, develop specialist optional modules, and make contributions to core modules, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will contribute to the academic management of the department by taking on responsibilities in relevant areas, and by contributing to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø-wide working groups and committees.

This is an open-ended appointment which will commence on 1 September 2023. We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible.

AppointmentsÌýat Lecturer level will have aÌýsalary on the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Grade 8 scale, £47,414 - £55,805 (inclusive of London Allowance), and appointments to Associate Professor levelÌýwill have aÌýsalary on the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Grade 9 scale, £60,592 - £65,823 (inclusive of London Allowance).

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a globalÌýtalent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.

About you

Applicants must have a PhD in International Relations and/or Political Science/Politics. They should have a track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications in International Relations of the Americas, and proven experience of teaching and assessment at university level in International Relations.ÌýÌý

We particularly welcome applicants with a research background in one or more of the following areas: migration, security, trade, international finance, global health.
