AI Centre celebrates Black Voices in AI

5 October 2021

As a part of our on-going EDI event schedule, the AI Centre and CDT for Foundational AI are delighted to be putting on a virtual event to celebrate black voices in AI.

FAI CDT Black in AI Speakers

October represents Black History Month, a time when black voices, arts and culture are celebrated across the nation, and we at the AI Centre are delighted to be able to provide a platform for black researchers and innovators to share their stories and wisdom at our virtual event on 14th October.

This event has been designed and formatted by our in-house decision making committee, who have given up their time and provided ideas and suggestions to make this event something that reflects their interests as well as serves their community.

We are honoured to host an esteem array of panelists, who are donating their time to discuss issues such as networking and mentoring, and how AI can help serve the black community. Our keynote speaker will be Chris Jackson, who will be providing a talk on his journey to being the first black scientist to give a Christmas lecture.

Our panel members are as follows:

Chantelle Lewis - Leading Routes

Danielle Belgrave - Deepmind

Adrian Joseph OBE - BT Group

Dayne Beccano-Kelly - UK Dementia Research Institute

Mavis Machiviori - Ada Lovelace Institute

Shamima Nabuula Kaliisa - Chil AI Lab

Shakir Mohammed - Deepmind

Jerone Andrews - Sony AI

This event is online and free to attend and we would be delighted to see as many members of the black community and black allies as possible.
