Our Mission

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøÌýStudent Pro Bono Committee (SPBC)Ìýis a student-led organisation that aimsÌýto raise the profile of pro bono activities at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Laws andÌýfoster a vibrant community ofÌýsociallyÌýengaged law students.ÌýAt the heart of our mission is the view that legal education should be underpinned by the understanding that law should be accessible and protect the rights of all. ÌýTo do this we aim to highlight the importance of pro bono and public interest work and engage as many students as possible in the work of the Centre for Access to Justice.Ìý

Our Goals and Activities

Goals:Ìý

  • To educate Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø students about the importance of pro bono, serve as the platform connecting different Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø pro bono groups, and advertise opportunities to students.Ìý

Activities:

  • Work under CAJ to advertise Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø and non-Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø affiliated pro bono opportunities

  • Collaborating with internal groups and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Law Society to organise events, raising awareness about access to justice

  • Fundraise for social justice causes

  • Run a publication to generate thought-provoking discourse on key access to justice issues
