Biography

London banker, partner with Richard Fuller and John Halford in the private bank known as Fuller, Halford & Vaughan c. 1774 and later as Fuller Banbury, Nix & Co., a predecessor of RBS/NatWest.

  1. John Vaughan of Cornhill banker and John Halford of Cornhill banker were parties to a deed of 05/10/1774 under which Thomas Taylor of St Vincent sold annuities of 拢360 p.a. to a group of London bankers and merchants including the two men, secured on Taylor's estate and enslaved people in St George's parish, St Vincent. Vaughan bought an annuity of 拢50 p.a. for his life and that of Mary Vaughan, not further identified in the deed.

  2. Will of John Vaughan banker of Cornhill proved 04/02/1803. He left legacies totalling 拢5000 to relatives of his partners in the Fuller family, and his residuary estate to his nephew and nieces surnamed Chowrie.
