Kingston merchants: John Mais senior left 拢2000 in 1798 to allow his son [later Hon.] John Mais to join the merchant firm of Steele, Thompson.

Free woman of colour; left Demerara in 1812 as a young woman and settled in Starthforth, Yorkshire, where she died in 1862.
