Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute of the Americas is pleased to announce the winner of the institute's Roosevelt Prize for the best dissertation on a US theme for the academic year 2016-17, Kimberly G. Schreiber. Her dissertation title is: Searching for the Sunbelt: The Role of the American South in the Environmental Protection Agency's Project DOCUMERICA, 1971-1977

Kimberly graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015 with a degree in Comparative Literature. She has an MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art and is currently a PhD candidate in the History of Art Department at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø. Her research focuses on documentary photography in the American South, with a focus on 1930s social documentary and its afterlives.

Kimberly says: "The Institute of Americas is the ideal place to pursue independent research--the staff is incredibly supportive of multidisciplinary work and my advisor Zoe was exceptionally helpful. I cannot recommend the MA program enough, especially for those students considering pursuing a PhD."

We warmly congratulate her and wish her every success in her research studies.
