Amarna
Howard
Carter, famous for the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, worked alongside
Petrie in the winter of 1891-2 at Amarna. Petrie and Carter managed to study
the Palace and Great Temple, a number of houses in the Main City, the stones
marking the city鈥檚 boundaries, patrol roads for the city, and quarries. They
also found areas of manufacturing, notably for 聽and glass, as well
as artist鈥檚 trial pieces like the one shown here.
In
the Palace, Petrie uncovered remains of beautifully decorated architectural
features with painted pavements.
